Do your personal CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and video game discs look like this picture?  Bring them to Jet for resurfacing.  Our professional-grade scratch remover will buff down the protective plastic coating over the disc's data, and in most cases will restore at least 90% of their readability.  We charge $1 for every 2 minutes we run our machine.  That is sufficient for light to moderate damage, but more heavily damaged discs may require additional time.  But it's still much cheaper than buying a new disc!

Very slow day today!  We're closing early.  Happy holiday!

The good news is that the service tax, which covers video rentals, will not be increasing tomorrow.  The bad news is that sales tax will increase from 5% to 5.5% (mailing supplies, packaged food, DVDs), and prepared food tax (ice cream, smoothies) will increase from 7% to 8%.   Therefore, you can expect to pay slightly more on those items.  Because our ice cream prices are presented in a tax-included format and rounded off to easy-to-deal-with numbers, we will be raising a few (but not all) of them slightly.  However, we won't be implementing those new prices for at least another month.
Summer's drawing to a close, and as the days become shorter, so will Jet's hours of operation.  Starting Monday, we'll be shaving off a half-hour from closing time, so our new hours will be:

Monday-Thursday: 10 AM - 8:30 PM
Friday-Saturday: 10 AM - 9 PM
Sunday: 12 PM - 8 PM
During June's Customer appreciation week, we had a costume contest.  Here's a photo of the winners.  Congrats!

A few weeks ago, Jet Video held a coloring challenge to add some life to our store windows (and give out some goodie bags).  Here are the results.

Jet Video will be open from 10-4 tomorrow, and the Post Office will be closed.
Jet will be extending our closing time by 30 minutes beginning immediately to accommodate the increased volume of after-dinner customers we typically serve in the summer.  This makes our new hours:

Monday - Thursday: 10 AM - 9 PM
Friday & Saturday: 10 AM - 9:30 PM
Sunday: 12 PM - 8:30 PM
Next week, starting Monday, 6/24, Jet Video will be introducing new daily deals.  In addition to our everyday specials of rent three; get one free (including new releases), the 5-for-$5 deal (not including new releases), and the Jet Bucks pre-payment plans, we'll be running the following promotions:

(Save Some) Money Mondays: Rent one; get one free (or a new release for half price)
Tuneful Tuesdays: Musical titles are $1 each
Weird Wednesdays: Horror and Sci-Fi/Fantasy titles are $1 each
Thought-Provoking Thursdays: Special Interest/Documentary titles are $1 each
Foreign Fridays: Foreign titles are $1 each
Suspenseful Saturdays: Action and Suspense titles are $1 each
Sunday, Fun-Day: Rent one; get an Adventure, Classic, Kids', or Kids' TV title free

Due to per-transaction processing fees that are levied on us when we run cards, Jet now has a $5 minimum on credit card purchases.*  We know it can seem convenient for customers not to carry cash, but since most of our transactions are for amounts less than $10, the fees that we have to pay on our end add up quickly.  We always prefer cash to cards but will continue to accept them for larger transactions -- or checks if you have a video account with us.  This will help keep Jet's prices low.

Our experiment in accepting cards for the Post Office has also come to a close.  Since it is not normally part of the way that CPUs do business, accepting cards made our accounting paperwork difficult.  It also cut in considerably to our already-low commission on postal transactions.  Therefore, we are back to accepting cash and checks only at our CPU.  However, there is an ATM at the nearby Quality Shop on Stevens Avenue, about a block away.

*Because privately-owned credit card companies want their services to appear to be on par with cash, they had prohibited businesses from imposing minimums for some time.  However, the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 has allowed for businesses like Jet to impose up to a $10 minimum on credit card transactions.
