after school wind down time and my exhausted kindy kid

March 16th, 2014|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |5 Comments

Anyone else have an exhausted kindy kid?We have finished week 6 of school and although so many people I know have kindy kids that have finally adjusted to being at school, my kindy kid is still not used to it and is absolutely exhausted by the end of her Kindy day.I am lucky that Chloe LOVES school. She gets ready for school in 10 seconds flat and she happily says goodbye to me and has a really great day. I know I’m really lucky that she loves it.But some days, the minute we walk […]

keeping organised :: school papers

March 13th, 2014|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , |2 Comments

Hi everyone! I am working through some of the questions I get asked most and this one pops up all the time – how do I deal with / sort / keep all the school papers and newsletters from school… so I am sharing my little system here.I don’t share stuff like this all the time simply because I am often looking for a ‘better way’ and never want to share something with you under the guise of ‘it works!’ when it doesn’t really or if I’ve only just set it up or have only […]

{printable} number flashcards

January 14th, 2014|Categories: printables|Tags: , , |6 Comments

A while ago I created these number flash cards for Chloe as she was obsessed with numbers and counting. Apparently I have forgotten to share them with you! We use them much like our colour cards which you can also download from the blog. They are great to use as just a flash card, but you can also use them with little counters or beads as well as little balls of playdough that your kiddo rolls themselves for an awesome fine motor activity! They are photo sized and I printed them at Big W to save ink […]

Noah is LOVING sight words and we have been learning them in a few different ways that I thought I would share with you!His teacher sends home a list for them to work on and once they’re confident with that list, they get sent home with another list. So I thought I’d share with you a few of the things we do to learn the words on the lists he is given from school.I’ve also included some printable sight word flash cards for you to download and print if you wish :o} They are based […]

back to school {2013} : the school corner + homework supplies caddy

February 5th, 2013|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , , , , |9 Comments

Finishing off the back to school posts is our new School Corner! You might recognise this space as the spot our writing workshop used to be – I moved this quite a while ago so that it was closer to the kids work table which left this area a little blank. It is right next to our dining table, which is where I though Noah could do his homework at this young age {Year 1, nearly 6 years old} as he will probably need some help or want to talk through things with me and this […]

back to school {2013} : lunch box and snack ideas

February 4th, 2013|Categories: Additive free|Tags: , |3 Comments

I always get a bit nervous talking food on my blog! What and how we feed our kids is a pretty personal decision, so while I am happy to share what we do, please don’t feel like it is what you must be doing, everyone gets to make their own decisions. Hubby and I as parents have been careful when it comes to additives and preservatives in our food for going on 8 years now. Although I am not an expert by any means, it has become easier and easier for us to make better choices […]

back to school {2013} little routines to help keep organised

January 24th, 2013|Categories: printables|Tags: , , , |3 Comments

Hi everyone! Another topic I have received a lot of emails and messages about is our school routines! Now Noah is only starting in Year 1, and last year did not have homework or anything like that so our routine is pretty basic. I have a fair idea on when I am going to implement homework time {after snack when he gets home} but as we haven’t tried it out yet I don’t know how we’ll go. As for some little routines we do to help our school days go a little smoother, I will start with […]

January 21st, 2013|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , |10 Comments

wow is it really that time already? to start thinking of everything back to school?I have received so many questions lately about back to school stuff so I decided to do up a post with as much info as I can think of! But it got way too long so I will split it into three. Today I’m going to talk about what we’ve been doing to get ready for school to go back, and what I think are the must haves for school. I will also do a post on our school routines […]

{printable} one smart cookie teacher appreciation tags

October 23rd, 2012|Categories: printables|Tags: , |4 Comments

It is Teacher Appreciation Day this Friday :o}A day to recognise all that teachers do to help our kids learn and grow and develop.I wanted to send Noah with a small token of thanks for his teacher and his teacher’s aid. He absolutely loves school and I think this is because of all the brilliant teachers he has had since starting his schooling journey. I am so thankful that he loves going, that he loves learning and that he feels comfortable and happy at school. I chose to go with cookies for 2 reasons. 1 – […]

6 quick and easy school holiday ideas!

July 10th, 2012|Categories: crafts|Tags: , , |5 Comments

We love crafting here! But sometimes we just need something quick and EASY!Here are a few ideas we love.1. Tissue boxesCutting the tops of tissue boxes = instant stuffed animal beds! Just add a little blanket {or wash cloth} and they’re snuggled up and ready for your kiddo to read a bed time story to them! You can also make them into little houses for pet rocks. This takes a little more time than just snipping off the top but still easy – use egg cartons for beds, cars and chairs and bits of felt […]
