This post is brought to you by Magshop.
There’s something about a new copy of your favourite magazine.Between it’s glossy covers; hundreds of inspirational ideas, gorgeous photos, tempting recipes and creative projects are waiting for you to discover them.
This year I have been inspired by all the gorgeous ‘rustic’ and more natural Christmas styles and displays in so many of my favourite magazines, with lots of creams and warm tones of brown and gold. Kraft paper for wrapping, warm white twinkle lights and hessian garlands in beautiful big fir Christmas trees.
I spotted this cute little star garland hanging on the chair in one of my magazines the other day and was inspired to create my own. Perfect for Christmas decorating now and for use in Noah’s nautical inspired bedroom later.
Using air dry clay {you can buy this from most craft shops or make your own} and some little cookie cutters, I made stars for my garlands.
When they were properly dry I threaded through some natural jute twine for that rustic feel and tied a knot below each star to keep it in place.
I love their understated simplicity, but they are a beautiful finishing touch.
My favourite magazines are definitely donna hay, Better Homes & Gardens, Australian House & Garden, Real Living and Home Beautiful as they are always filled with the most gorgeous ideas all year through, but I especially love the Christmas editions seeing as it is my favourite time of year! Just look at all the pretty!
My beautiful hubby bought me a magazine subscription for Mother’s Day and I always look forward to each next edition arriving in the mail. It makes such a great gift as it lasts all year long and all those inspirational pages just get delivered straight to your door each month.
For me, there’s a whole moment that goes into the reading of my favourite magazines, a ritual if you will. I’ll wait until I can find that moment to sit, uninterrupted with a cup of tea {or coffee these past few sleep deprived months!} and some quiet. I hate to just hurriedly flip through the pages.Lately I have also been enjoying some magazine reading while feeding the baby. A little time out, just sitting and relaxing. We all need to do that now and then!
And because I love magazines so much and I love the inspiration the give and the time out they provide, I am super excited that I have one yearly subscription to a magazine title of your choice to giveaway to one of my beautiful readers thanks to Magshop!

About 6+ yrs ago I made white choc truffles from the BHG mag and they have since become a Christmas tradition. They even have a dash of butterscotch schnapps ;-)The family is already asking if I’ve made some yet.
Homemade gifts such as food, candles and spa treats seen in my favourite foodie and home magazines have inspired me to have a handmade Christmas this year. Starting with a reasonable amount I’m making gifts for all the women in my life. Next years challenge is the men as well!

I love home wares magazines, I take a quiet time of day, usually in bed at night after my shower before I go to sleep and pour over the beautiful things and get inspiration to add a touch of beautifulness to my own home.
I love heartfelt stories and one in particular stood out. It was the fires in Melbourne. I straight away started collecting donations!!

I have a glass jar filled with one of every purple item from around the house, I saw a blue one in a magazine once.
Something very simple that I have never thought of..like fill up a glass jar with small baubles from dollar store, decorate the table with christmas tree paper chains. Our house is going to look more festive this year!
We made twin babies after reading a parenting magazine 😉

A vegetable garden, we are teaching our young kids the value of home-grown produce and sustainably. The more we grow the more they’ll know!
I learned to minimise waste by serving a few carefully selected dishes rather than have a table groaning under the weight of food, much wasted.
I made a gingerbread house with the kids right from scratch! Kids enjoyed helping and on Christmas Day the entire family demolished it!
to be honest nothing has really inspired me that much from any of the mags I have read arballantyne@dodo.com.au
A Christmas Tree made out of tree branches. It looked fantastic and was admired by all.

I saw a gorgeous homemade advent calendar in a magazine which inspired me to buy a little tabletop tree and wrap 25 handmade ornaments as mini daily presents underneath it for a friend 🙂
So many things! We made similar decorations to your garland but using salt dough and hung them from the plum tree as Christmas decorations.
My last inspired make was some cushion covers. And growing my fabric stash in preparation for lots of inspired sewing… I will get them all done someday!
