playdough and chickpea pies

October 9th, 2014|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , , |0 Comments

We had some fun last week making playdough pies! The kids LOVE when I make pie and we have some left over pastry. They roll it out and play play play so I thought I would make some playdough pastry for them to play with and make their own little mini pies with some of our rainbow chickpeas!

I pulled out some mini pie dishes for them and grabbed my pastry cutter and a fresh batch of pastry coloured playdough and let them enjoy some chickpea pie making.
It was fun to roll out the pastry and […]

{printable} LEGO mini fig

October 7th, 2014|Categories: printables|Tags: , , , , , |2 Comments

Do you have a lego lover in your life??
My kids LOVE the lego movie big time, and so I just knew they’d love this activity!
I found this awesome outline of a mini fig from here and popped two of them onto an A4 sheet for printing {I like this size as it’s a little more manageable and not so large for colouring etc}
I let the kids have a couple that they could draw on with crayons and pencils. I LOVE how Noah did these three!

I also laminated a couple for re-usable play. We use […]

colour me happy :: how to dye chickpeas

October 1st, 2014|Categories: A Little Delightful, crafts|Tags: , , , , , , , , |2 Comments

Recently I dyed some chick peas for the kids for a little bit of fun imaginative and sensory play.
They’re such a great size and very different to the texture of our rainbow rice!
It’s easier than you may think to dye pasta and rice, and the result is fun and vibrant and irresistible!

You will need:
Dried chickpeas {you can get these from the supermarket or a bulk foods grocer will have them cheaper – if you are in Perth Kakulas in Northbridge is a great spot for things like this!}
Food dye {I use a gel paste […]

non toxic edible sensory slime

September 15th, 2014|Categories: activities|Tags: , , , , , |6 Comments

This slime is super fun and VERY easy to make, and only needs 2 ingredients {or 3, if you colour it with food colouring like we did!} It’s borax free and completely non toxic so you don’t have to worry about kids consuming glue or borax like many other slimes contain! It’s also perfect for small babies and toddlers to play with.
It is completely edible since it is made with pysillium husk {available from most supermarkets and health food stores}.
I bought our packet of psyllium for about $5. If you can find a really fine […]

DIY sensory bottles

April 23rd, 2014|Categories: diy|Tags: , , , |31 Comments

A little while ago I posted about some things I had made up for Chloe to help her wind down from school as she was struggling a little and was over tired. One of the things I made her was a sensory bottle, much like the ‘time out jar’ filled with glitter that I had seen on pinterest. Chloe’s is filled with pretty little beads and gems, sequins and glittler for her to shake and watch everything settle back down while chilling out.When I made Chloe’s I thought I’d make one for Noah as […]

April 17th, 2014|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , |1 Comment

Here is a super fun and easy Easter craft to do this extra long weekend with the kids!!The other day Chloe said to me she wished and wished with all her might that she would find a little bunny pet in the back yard for us to love and take care of. I said to her that that was a lovely wish, but that it was one that probably couldn’t come true right now as we aren’t ready for a pet! I encouraged her to play with her hundreds of soft toy bunnies {my kids […]

after school wind down time and my exhausted kindy kid

March 16th, 2014|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |5 Comments

Anyone else have an exhausted kindy kid?We have finished week 6 of school and although so many people I know have kindy kids that have finally adjusted to being at school, my kindy kid is still not used to it and is absolutely exhausted by the end of her Kindy day.I am lucky that Chloe LOVES school. She gets ready for school in 10 seconds flat and she happily says goodbye to me and has a really great day. I know I’m really lucky that she loves it.But some days, the minute we walk […]
