Hello lovelies!

I am so excited to be sharing with you some additional advent activity cards to add to the ones I shared with you last year. You can see my post and how we do Advent here. I will provide the links to download both this years cards and last years cards down the bottom of this post :o}

This year there are 10 new cards to add to the collection!
They are:

  • Take treats to friends and neighbours
  • Decorate the Christmas tree {the most requested activity! our tree is always up before Dec 1 so I never thought to include this one!}
  • Make an ornament for the tree
  • Read the Nativity story
  • Perform a random act of kindness
  • Go to carols by candlelight
  • Have a candlelit dinner
  • Make a gift for your teacher
  • Write cards for friends and family
  • Have a gingerbread decorating party

They are additional to the advent activity cards I shared last year which included:

  • Bake some yummy Christmas cookies
  • Christmas movie night
  • Go and look at Christmas lights
  • Make Reindeer Food
  • Write a letter to Santa
  • Think of 10 things we are thankful for
  • Leave a gift under the Wishing Tree
  • Go and visit Santa
  • Leave out cookies and milk for Santa, and food for the Reindeer, too
  • Do some Christmas crafts
  • Read some Christmas stories
  • Sing Christmas carols
  • Give to Charity
  • Enjoy hot chocolate together
  • + 4 blank cards for you to add your own advent activities!

I print them onto card stock and laminate them so they last and last.
This year I am using this gorgeous Advent Calendar garland. The pockets are a little bigger than our other one which I love and it has become more of a feature in our home!

In the pockets there is a card for almost every day – for the days there isn’t a card I will re-use the Christmas craft card because we will obviously be doing that one a lot! I have also popped some little treats or toys in some of the pockets. For these I used some Christmas bubbles and stampers from Big W, some mini candy canes, little Christmas chocolates and gold coins. I am yet to get some Christmas stickers to put into some of the pockets {my kids are obsessed with stickers!}

I used my printable calendar {find it here – I used it because it’s already dated} to help plan which day we would do each activity. You can also print out a blank, undated advent planning calendar from here if you prefer.

I hope these help to bring a little joy and fun to your Christmas season. We have been doing advent calendars like this for years and years and I much prefer them to the store-bought chocolate advent calendars. Here I get to choose what goes in, and how often they get a little treat. And I can also use it as an opportunity to create a little magic and excitement for the kids as each day is a surprise for them. I really really love Christmas and since we have family visiting, it was very very lovely and super super rare to have them help out with getting ready for Christmas last night as we placed the cards and treats in their pockets.

Can you feel it? Christmas is coming :o}
