We have been doing A LOT of Spring Cleaning here – and when I spring clean I often move furniture! A change is as good as a holiday and I think I’ve changed nearly every room in our house!
Noah has a nautical themed bedroom. I have always wanted to have a boy so I could style his room in soft blue, beige and cream with boats and starfish and other nautical things and maps here and there. I have shared his room before – but we moved his bed to the other side of the room and it instantly feels more welcoming in there. {The bunting is from Spotlight and is the “Noah” range – what a coincidence!}
I bought a $3.95 rug from Ikea for the floor beside the bed and we put an old bedside table repurposed from another room in here to make a sort of bench / seat for Noah to place his bag on when he gets home from school. He has hooks in his wardrobe but finds it difficult to hang his mega huge bag on them so this works well for us. And when I don’t want to see it I can shove it in the bottom of the bedside unit or hang it up in the wardrobe :o}
I also thought I’d share with you a recent project I did for Noah’s room. My Mum embroidered our birth stats {name, date, weight and time} and had them framed and they were a lovely addition to our bedrooms growing up. I haven’t been able to find a kind of template that she used and I’m hopeless at embroidery so I decided to do something a little different. In trying to add more maps into Noah’s room I decided to cut his name out of maps that hold importance or significance to him. Countries of our heritage, etc.
I printed his birth date, time and weight on a piece of cardstock and then glued the cut out map letters on and then put it in a frame to display in his room. :o} Very happy with how this turned out :o}
I get emailed about the beautiful sail boat pictures in the frames quite often! They are a few years old and I don’t think they are available anymore – they were from Ikea. :o}
Love this gorgeous lil boys room!! thinking of doing a nautical theme for my lil man and this had been very inspirational!! Just wondering where you got the mini sailboats from and the canvas striped basket?
Thanks 🙂
hi 🙂 thank you. we love his room too. unfortunately the mini sailboats are from germany! and the striped canvas basket was from the reject shop quite a while ago now. I have found it difficult to source nautical stuff at reasonable prices as they seem to come and go through the shops so quickly! Good luck with your decorating!
Thanks Bianca 🙂 yes I’ve found this as well with nautical theme ( my house is decorated in this style from things I’ve collected over the years) Freedom and Thingz house n home had a nautical range and have a few stock left if you’re lucky to find some. I noticed the reject shop had the canvas baskets but haven’t found any in blue as of late. Thanks again 🙂 x
Also… If you are ever in Mandurah stop in at Dolphin Quay markets.. Theres a shop called Beachside Living that sell gorgeous coastal/nautical home decor 🙂
Hi Bianca,
Just wondering where you got the fishing net from that’s hanging on the wall? Was it eBay? And the gorgeous light blue world globes?
Thanks 🙂
Dee
Hi Dee, the globes in Noahs room are from Myer {the large white one on top of the ikea expedit bookcase – brand is called VUE, it is a white board type finish so you can write on it} and the little one on the dresser is from Typo.
The fishing net was really really cheap from Germany, I am not sure where to get one like it closer, sorry! 🙁
Thanks Bianca, love the idea of the whiteboard globe! thanks for that I’ll have a look into the fishing net wall hanging that I saw on eBay
From what I can gather its similar to the one you have from Germany. Keep up the great work. Love your blog!
