With our own fathers either in another country or no longer with us, our father’s day was pretty quiet. We stayed home except for a quick trip to Bunnings. {what’s a father’s day without Bunnings, right?}
We started the day with Daddy having a sleep-in – believe it or not this is rare for him, he usually lets me sleep in!
We made him french toast with freshly whipped cream and strawberries. A good splash of maple syrup {the real stuff} sealed the deal. I found the super cute sign here.
Our little guy made Dad a tie at kindy. This is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Instructions on the back said to ‘wear all day’ – and Master 3 ensured this was in fact done!
We also gave Daddy a small hamper of some yummy treats such as turkish delight {in the little milk carton inspired by Jordan at Polkadot Print {though not nearly as nice as hers!}- template from here, little ‘dad’ tag from here}, some delicious toblerone chocolate, some corn muffin mix {these are so good, you can buy them from David Jones Foodhall or USAFoods} and a jar of Rogan Josh from the Turban Chopsticks. I found the No. 1 Dad label here.
Lunch was a selection of cold meats, breads, cheese, vegies and various condiments. We used these little chopping boards as our plates. This is a tradition in my husband’s family which he wanted to continue with our own children.
We had some little cheesecake bites after lunch. These are really quite yum, and as easy as taking them out of the freezer! The little topper is the same as the one I used on the little milk carton and is from PaperGlitter.
Overall I think we had a very happy Daddy in our house.
That chicken curry I was supposed to make though? Didn’t happen. We got carried away enjoying the gorgeous weather outside and with our impromptu trip to the hardware store, I ran out of time to cook it.
I hope you had a delightful father’s day weekend.
